Contacted Edward Shine, Realtor on 2007-08-31
In June we went to look at Long Island beach front rentals available for a week in September to give my family a place to stay during a wedding. We found Ed Shine off of Craig's List and went to look at his house in Patchogue as well as others. Since his house was best situated, we decided to go with Ed's offer. He said we had a deal and would send over the contracts. It was incredibly difficult to reach him, but when we did he said that it slipped his mind and promised that he would definitely send the contracts over. In the middle of August a couple weeks before my family is scheduled to arrive, my parents receive word from Ed Shine that the house is no longer available because it has been sold. Of course we didn't suspect anything was wrong earlier, so we lost the opportunity to go with another rental. Clearly we are very upset with Ed Shine because he had done business in bad faith. I am glad that we didn't actually send him any money. This is just a warning for anyone getting involved with Edward Shine, he is not an honest person.

If you have trouble dealing with a company, your best bet may be for you to contact the Better Business Bureau. Post your company complaints on boards like this one to help educate other consumers. You may also want to report bad companies that have deceptive practices to the FTC. Obviously if you find a company is doing a good job, then the best way for you to help the company is the spread the word!

Research companies yourself before doing business with them. It can save you much time, money, and most importantly leave you with a positive customer experience.
